Look me in the eyes… compelling videos with eye contact thanks to a teleprompter and PPT Mirror
June 30, 2022
Friend or foe? A look into the eyes is the number one recognition signal.
In every culture around the world, eye contact is how we tell whether the other person is honest and well-meaning towards us – or not. The reverse conclusion suggests itself: whoever doesn't look you in the eyes is lying.
What does eye contact mean for videos?
If you don't manage to look your viewer "in the eyes", your video loses a significant amount of impact: you're less convincing, you appear less credible, and the consequence is: you sell less.
In training, too, learning success depends decisively on whether we trust the presenter or not. Who wants to learn something they suspect might not even be true?
That's why it's enormously important to look your viewer in the eyes. And that's exactly what becomes very easy when you use a teleprompter.
Create a compelling video in four easy steps:
- Create a PowerPoint presentation (or use Google Drive for free) in which you lay out the important points as bullet points on slides
- Talk through the slides several times – until it sounds natural. Try not to read word for word, and shorten the text so you can grasp the content at a glance.
- Mirror the presentation with PPT Mirror and transfer it to an iPad / Android tablet
- Record your video with a passive teleprompter (under 200 euros to buy) and make sure you speak as freely as possible
